Opus Magnum is a very clever puzzle game. It has you follow Anataeus Vaya, an alchemist in a fictional world who has just been assigned as the Head Alchemist for one of the oldest and richest of the city’s ancient Houses. Being an alchemist has you building machines that will help you transmute one thing for another; building production lines to produce tools, medicine and even the odd aid for the bedroom.
And that is where the real fun comes in. There is always more than one answer to the puzzles the game throws at you. How you answer will be rated in three different ways; speed, simplicity and the amount of space the puzzle takes up. Which way you excel at will differ depending on how you intend to solve the puzzle, and you can share the results with others to see who gets the best. All this as you witness Anataeus navigate intrigue and dark plots…
