Alfred is a free Mac application that acts as an enhanced replacement for Spotlight. You can launch apps using a few keystrokes, make quick calculations, keep track of your clipboard, search the dictionary, look up contacts in your address book or search your calendar, and so much more!
Alfred also has workflows, similar to plugins, that allow you to add in external services. It’s also relatively easy to add in your own workflows to get Alfred to do almost whatever you want it to do! Check it out, it’s a beautiful app and one I use frequently.
